On the way to school Ollie was a little confused because daddy seemed a bit more nervous than he usually was and according to daddy Sammy he was normally a Nervous Nelly. Obviously having to go hours without someone so sweet to love on him was a terrible thing to endure but Ollie had discussed it with daddy Sammy and he was supposed to be loving on daddy in his absence. Ollie knew daddy Sammy wasn't doing it entirely right but he was trying his best and that was all anyone really expected of him. The only person who could really love Dean the way he needed was Ollie, but he had to go to school for some reason of which he wasn't entirely sure though it was sort of fun.
"I want you to be extra well behaved today, Beanie!"
"A will, daddy!"
"I mean extra super good today!" Dean said. "Promise me you'll be a good boy!"
"A did three time! Why would a think Your Beans was a bad boy?"
"I dunno." Dean sighed. "Did I imagine you trying to bring a spoon to school to poke Elmer in the belly?"
"Ethan did it!"
Dean narrowed his eyes a little and launched into a very long daddy Sammy inspired speech about being a good boy, which Ollie only partially listened to. For the record he didn't put the spoon in his pants specifically to poke Elmer in his belly, he just wanted to have a weapon on him in case it came to that. He thought it was a pretty good idea but then when daddy went to get him dressed the spoon fell out of his underwear. Ollie tried to pretend that he didn't know how it got there and when that didn't work he just blamed Ethan but then Evan backed him up and said he didn't do a thing wrong. Ollie didn't think that was fair at all because it was two against one.
"Now remember what I told you!"
"You don wan the Beans to be a bad boy!"
"Exactly! Your Deans likes good boys."
"Yeah." Ollie scoffed. "A so sure daddy Sammy is wit being good."
"Good point." Dean whispered. "Well, most of the time he is."
"I tell him to give you a butt, daddy!"
"Don't you worry about daddy! I'm gonna get a butt from him either way." Dean said before he turned around. "I trust you but tell me one more time."
"I will be a best Beanie in a whole wide world!"
The sad thing about daddy was that he was so unbelievably good looking that he'd believe just about anything since it was a known fact that the prettier you were the dumber you were. Ollie really didn't think he was being bad by not telling the truth, but he was going to try to be the best while figuring out just how to get rid of Elmer. Clearly poking him with a spoon was no longer an option but Ollie was smart so he figured he could come up with something.
After he got his standard fifteen kisses from daddy Ollie began his morning school day routine which started with stowing his bag in the cubbyhole with his name on it. He wasn't really sure why he needed the bag with extra clothes in it but he brought it everyday. Some of the other kids there changed but Ollie never had which he assumed was because he was always looking super fly to begin with.
Making sure he was looking super fly was the second part of his routine and because he knew his threads were hot and his face was gorgeous, thanks to daddy, he gently touched a curls to make sure they were still in place. Sometimes there was wind and things got a little messed up, but Ollie was in luck because his hair felt just right which was to say it was hotter than Aaron's and as beautifully colored as daddy's.
Once Ollie was sure he was practically perfect in every possible way he put on his biggest brightest grin and turned on his heels to smile at Holly. She was always eating breakfast when he arrived and because they were so in love Ollie waited until everything else was done to take a look at her. Unfortunately when he turned she wasn't at the little table with brightly colored chairs. In fact she wasn't anywhere around and Elmer was sitting by himself eating a graham cracker with a little jug of chocolate milk. He had so obviously gotten rid of Holly and Ollie wasn't going to stand for that at all. He didn't have his spoon but he sure as hell could slap Elmer right in his face and knock a curls right off his head.
"Hey Ollie!" Chris said as he squatted down. "Do you want some juice?"
"You don even know!"
"Are you okay, buddy?"
"That Elmah took my Holly! Why does someone always steal fwom The Beans! Did a know daddy Sammy twy to steal daddy! The Beans owned him firs!"
"Um...no, but Elmer didn't steal Holly. She's staying with her grandma for a few days. She'll be back next week."
"Wha! You don mean gwandma Mawy?"
"I'm not sure what her name is but she'll be back." Chris smiled. "Is Mary your grandma's name?"
"Half of one." Ollie sighed. "Well just gweat now no Holly and then wit Elmah...wha! He's looking at me wit his eyes!"
"I think he'd like to be your friend." Chris whispered. "I'll get you a grape juice and you can go talk to him."
"You mus be twippin'!"
"He doesn't have a lot of friends yet and...well, if the other kids saw him talking to you then they'd all think he was cool..."
"And then he would get a new girlfwend!"
"Yes, I think so!"
"Oh, Cwis! You so smawt!"
It wasn't as good a plan as poking someone in the belly but it was the best plan Ollie had and he came up with it all by himself. Technically Chris had maybe helped but no one else needed to know that and Ollie could take complete credit much like he did when he made dinner everyday or changed Milo's diaper when he made stinkies.
Even with a plan Ollie still approached the little table rather cautiously while he tried not to glare. Elmer seemed to get all excited when he approached which Ollie expected. After all it wasn't everyday that someone got to talk to a baby as handsome and smart as he was. It was really a great honor, one that Elmer wasn't worthy of at all but sacrifices had to be made.
He was enjoying his crackers and milk and even seemed to be coloring something. Ollie really felt the only pictures worth coloring were ones of pigs, but Elmer was drawing people. There were only three of them so clearly he had just gotten started since in Ollie's experiences pictures usually had at least ten if not more people. Three was just unheard of and Elmer didn't even draw in any animals like Oinkers, Spotty, or that cat that couldn't complete the simplest of tasks.
"Hello, Owwie!"
"Elmah."
"Wha a nice thing to see you this fine mornin'!"
"Yeah well..." Ollie said before he paused. "Mus be a best thing evah."
"Oh, indeed!"
"Wha...is a chocolate milk?"
"Mmhmm!"
"Wit a cimmanon quackahs?" Ollie asked. "Or wit a wegulars."
"Oh, is a cimmanon." Elmer said before he snapped one in half. "There a go, one for you."
"Wha...alweady ate a bweakfast...a made it by a self while daddy Sammy was sleeping!"
"We won tell nobody!"
Ollie narrowed his eyes again and then cautiously accepted the graham cracker. He wasn't supposed to have a snack until he was there for a while, but it would be rude to turn down a treat, probably just as rude as poking Elmer in the belly which Ethan had tried to get Ollie to do just that morning, he even went so far as to put a spoon in his underwear. The cracker was pretty good and even better once Ollie had his grape juice, some colors, and fresh paper courtesy of Chris.
"A guess ya miss Holly."
"Who's a Holly?" Elmer asked. "Wha...oh a girl?"
"My girl! My Sammy!"
"A didna even know she was gone...huh!"
"Wha in a world." Ollie whispered. "You don love her!"
"Wha! Did a hear about cooties?"
"Pft, is no such thing Elmah. A know fwom a Mawy."
"Oh, a see."
"Let Mr. King The Beans see what a dwawing ovah here...hmmm. Wha...wha is it..."
"Is me Elmah." Elmer pointed. "And then mommy and then wit my mommy."
"Wha...you don have a brotha? Not even one daddy?"
"Me and mommy and mommy."
"A pig?"
"No, jus me and...oh no! Wha's wong! You don like it!"
"A do, Elmah. Is a vewy nice dwawing."
Ollie sucked up his breath and wiped at his eyes because he had never in his life seen such a sad picture. He really thought Holly had it bad because she didn't have any brothers but she did have a daddy. Elmer didn't have either which had to be the worst thing in the entire world. Even a sister like Mary would be better than nothing but he just had two mommies which quite frankly made no sense because he was a boy.
"You don have a daddy?"
"Oh, a daddy." Elmer whispered. "Yeah, a little bit."
"Wha do a mean?"
"Well see my mommy, I live in a belly, my daddy is my otha mommy's brother, but then he went away to do a things."
"In a big city?"
"A guess. I dunno."
"Maybe wit Amy!"
"Who?"
"Amy is a..." Ollie said before he paused to think. "Oh, do a like cookies!"
"Yeah!"
"Well, Amy is like where you put a cookies but wit babies! You put a stuff in and then wit a ding a baby comes out...well two when daddy Sammy does a junk. Wha a show off!"
"A mommy?"
"No! No, see The Beans has two daddies. A think wha happened was daddy had a junk stuff, and then daddy Sammy got it and stuck it in Amy...a guess like a micwowave."
"Oh, wit a popcorn!"
"Yeah, but made of a babies."
"Ooooh!" Elmer nodded. "You are smawt."
"Well, a dunno about that!" Ollie blushed. "But...did a tell you about award winning daddies?"
"Ooooh!"
"You know....uh...well, The Beans is have a little pawty."
"Wha...that does sound too fancy for Elmah!" Elmer said. "Wha kind?"
"Well, is three weally." Ollie shrugged. "One for a Hawwoweens, a do a little thing wit The Beanie Center."
"Oh, uh huh."
"Then Mary and Milo, my babies have a birfday."
"Oh, how nice for 'em!"
"Then is Beanie day after a turkey day. The Beans will be three and almost tall enuff for a camp. I think you will come to a pawty!"
"Wha!"
Elmer seemed very happy and to Ollie's surprise he was pretty happy for him. In fact Ollie was sort of thinking that maybe Elmer would be a good friend to have just in case daddy Sammy got any sexier. That seemed to be inevitable and Ollie had been steadily stockpiling best friends and husband just in case daddy lost his damn mind and chose gorgeous good looks over round little bellies and a curls.
"I think will be fun!"
"It does sound like a fun." Elmer whispered. "Maybe you would be a fwend?"
"A best one?"
"If ya won." Elmer shrugged. "I was...ya know, looking for a fwend."
"I will be a best fwend!" Ollie said as he put his arm over Elmer's shoulder. "Did a know my brotha Ethan won me to poke you wit a spoon!"
"Wha!"
"A know!" Ollie scoffed. "Some people!"
"Can a just say you have a wondefuh curls?"
"Thank you, Elmah! Fwom a pwoduct!"
"A wha?"
"Oh." Ollie frowned. "You need The Beans."
Elmer nodded very seriously and then accepted a quick hug from Ollie before they got down to business talking about hair and pigs. Chris watched the whole thing and he was just amazed because Ollie did exactly what Dean said he would. He had warned him about possibly belly pokes but he said that as soon as Ollie found out Elmer was an only child they were going to become best friends for life. Dean was raising his children to seek out people who needed companionship and Chris had never been so proud to call someone his friend.
When Chris got outside Dean was leaning against his big black car picking at his nails with his keys. He knew that Dean and Sam were both worth a massive amount of money but Chris thought they both looked so real and normal. Dean especially looked normal and probably like more of a father than the majority of men that brought their kids into the daycare.
"Well?"
"Exactly what you said." Chris laughed. "He asked about his daddy and then Ollie invited him to um...I guess the Halloween auction, the babies birthday party, and his party."
"All right!" Dean yelled. "I knew he'd make friends with him. Did he hug him?"
"He did. When I came out here they were talking about product."
"That's like third base for Ollie...neat. Thanks for spying for me."
"No problem. Hey, tell Sam we're all thinking about him and hoping he gets better."
"I will, thank you."
"No problem."
After a quick handshake Dean pulled out of the parking lot and Chris went back inside to get back to work. Ollie really was his father's son because he was still hanging out with Elmer and making sure he knew they'd be friends. Sam and Dean had done the same thing for Chris when he really needed someone and if paying a little more attention to Ollie was all he had to do to pay them back then he was going to do it with a big smile on his face and only his own thoughts in his head. |
